Chili Blast Fundrasier a Success, $2,000 raised!

Thank you to all those who attended the Huck Finn Chili Blast on Saturday night! 180 people came out to sample the town’s finest chili, enjoy the freshly manicured ice (thanks to the use of the county’s Zamboni), and show their support for the Huck Finn Park Project. The event raised $2,000 towards the $870,000 needed to build a skatepark, new ice rink building and tennis courts. The community’s contributions on Saturday night brought the total funding raised to $200,000.

We would like to especially thank the following people for making this event a great success; the thirty individuals who crafted a delicious pot of chili, City on a Hill for donating bread, EverGreen Land Co. for sponsoring the event, the numerous volunteers from 21st Century Grant, The LINK Program and the DA’s office, Marjorie Westerman for donating the beautiful ceramic bowls to the chili winners, the Recreation Department for helping put on the event, Lake County Road and Bridge for preparing the ice and setting up the site, High Mountain Institute for the hot cocoa and s’more supplies, High County Conservation for helping us make this a zero-waste event, and the members of the Huck Finn Park Project committee who helped make this event possible.

Congratulations to our top four chili winners:
