Skateboarders had a chance to see how fast they could make it down the Mineral Belt Trail during Sunday’s Blaze the Belt in 3-D.
The Competition had 24 participants on long boards, short skateboards, scooters, and luge boards.
The fastest time in the competition was 14 minutes and 46 seconds from California Gulch to Dutch Henri Hill. This was TR Schwerin, Aspen, on a long board during his second run. His first run time was 15:23.
Travis Boullion, Leadville, had the shortest time in the short deck division. This division included all the short skateboards. His time on the second run was 20:206 compared to 25:19 on the first run.
On the luge boards, Matt Hofius, Leadville, had the fastest time with 14:58.
The event raised funds for the skatepark project headed by the Partners for Lake County Recreation. The proceeds included a $500 donation from Jeff and Carrie Klenda, which was appreciated by organizer Donny Conner, he said.
Donations for the project can be made to PLCR for the skatepark at the recreation department.
